Where I'm from poem - Pauline Jones

I am from a plate of cookies, from chocolate chip and sugar.

I am from the inner city of Cincinnati, a small three bedroom house.

I am from family cook outs every summer, and strong personalities, from my grandma Jessie, and my grandfather Robert.

I am from the always loving and giving women of my family.

From, remembering to share and always being fair.

I am from a Christian background, but did not sit in church every Sunday.

I am from a generation born in Ohio, from Skyline chili, and Graters ice cream.

From the stories my grandmother told me about her life and hard times down south.

I am from the living room in my grandmother’s home with pictures of family members here and some gone. The times we cherish and will always remember.
