I talked to my mom and and asked to name one event that stuck out to her as a child. She quickly responded to the GE employee party/day when she was eight years old. Her dad worked at GE and they threw the employees a party at Union Terminal. They had food, games, and all kinds of stuff. My grandparents took all 5 of their kids to Union Terminal. One of the events was drawing names for the prizes. The emcee said they needed 2 kids to help pull the names out and asked for some volunteers. Out of nowhere mom hears a familiar voice
"Here! She will do it!" Grandpa shouted and and took my mom's arm
"I don't want to dad" Mom said almost crying
"Sure you do it will be fun" Her dad said.
My mom as already shy and hated crowds. She was mortified and nervous the whole time. She even showed me the picture of her up on stage and I could see the fear in her face. From then on mom hated talking in front of crowds.
