Nekia Lewis (journal 4)

I talked to my grandmother. The one thing she said that changed her life was getting married & becoming a mother at such an early age in her life. She was born in Cincinnati , raised by her grandparent. She was 16 years old when she got married to my grandfather and had her first child, my uncle and at the age of 17 she had my mother. She said times were hard when you are young and poor trying to raise a family, when you are just a child yourself. She was unable to complete school because she had to take care of her family. She divorced my grandpa and remarried she had two more children. After all her children finished school she returned to school to get her diploma and went on to get a job with Job and Family Services and retired
