Journal 4~ Amanda Glacken

Veronica is a 25 year old single mother. She lives in a small town named Friendship, Illinois. It's a quit place with wonderful people.

Her children are Sammy, 6, and Teddy, 3. Veronica found out she was pregnant with Sammy right before she graduated from high school. Rather than being scared, she was very excited. Three years after Sammy was born she found out she was pregnant with Teddy. Right after she gave birth to Teddy, the father of her children got arrested for grand lareceny. That is where she ended things with him.

After that relationship Veronica started dating Trevor. Things were going pretty well with him. They had been dating for six months and he even asked her to move in with him. Veronica started packing everything up. Sammy and Teddy were just as excited as their mother because they really liked Trevor.

The night before they were supposed to move in Trevor decided to go out to a bar. Veronica was okay with it, she felt Trevor deserved a night out with the boys. They kissed goodbye and Veronica and the kids went back to their apartment for the last time.

The next morning, Veronica wanted to surprise Trevor and come over early. She put a few boxes in the car along with Teddy and Sammy, and headed over to Trevor's house. Since she already had a key, she didn't feel it was necessary to knock on the door. When she walked in, it was very quiet. "Trevor, Trevor, where are you?" she asked. When Trevor didn't answer she figured he must still be sleeping. "You two stay here," she told the kids. "I'll be right back."

Veronica opened the bedroom door and couldn't believe her eyes. There lay Trevor and her sister, Viola. "Trevor," yelled Veronica. "How could you do this to me?"
"I'm sorry babe, it was an accident," Trevor pleaded.
"Oh, my sister accidentally fell asleep in your bed?" You are unbelievable." Veronica stormed out of the house, "come on kids," she bellowed.
"Veronica, wait," begged Trevor.
Just like that, she was gone.

Veronica was devastated that the man she thought loved her, could do something so awful. She swore off men for the rest of her life. She felt it was the only way she could live her life without disappointment. Veronica took the kids out to lunch that day to explain that Trevor would no longer be in their lives. Teddy and Sammy were sad, but they loved their mother and knew that she only wanted the best for them.

After the lunch, the waitress brought Veronica the check. Veronica took a look at the check and realized it had already been paid. She asked the waitress," Are you sure this is the right check?"

The waitress replied," I sure am, that nice lady over there paid for your meal today."
Veronica was dumbfounded as to why a lady she didn't know would pay for her meal. The woman came over the Veronica's table and introduced herself, "Hello, my name is Candy and I was wondering if you would like my phone number."

Veronica was confused as to why this lady thought she wanted her phone number. After thinking about it for a minute she realized this Candy woman was interested in dating her. With the recent happenings that day, Veronica thought that this might be the solution to her man problem.

"You know what," Veronica replied, "I would love your phone number."

As Candy wrote down her phone number, a million thoughts ran through Veronica's head. What am I doing? Will this be good for me? How do lesbians act? She blocked out all these thoughts and decided that this would be a good change for her.

"This could be the start of something wonderful," Veronica laughed.
