Amanda Griffin-Journal 3

One cool October morning my family arrived in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This was my first time in Gatlinburg and couldn't believe my eyes. It was about 8am and the air was still cool but the sky's were bright blue with no clouds and the sun shinning as bright as it possibly could.

As we drove through town and I looked up above I saw these beautiful colored tress with bright colors that I had never seen quite before. It was a perfect mixture of reds, oranges, and yellows. These colored trees definitely reminded me of the fall. My dad decided to pull over and park and we would walk the rest of the way.

I was excited because I wanted to absorb this beautiful place without the glass of the car window holding me back. As soon as I stepped out of the car I got a whiff of the cool crisp air and the aroma of fresh fallen leaves. My mom and dad knew how much I loved the fall and were just as excited for me to see all of the beauty. This was not there first time in Gatlinburg so they were used to the beauty. This trip was for me this time.

It seemed to me that everyone looked so happy and peaceful here. That they were enjoying this beautiful place just as much as I was. I looked around at all the shops and noticed the perfectly round orange pumpkins that looked as though someone had specifically choose them because they were perfect. Scarecrows we draped all over from pole to pole. There were haystacks and cornstalks stacked everywhere. I kept thinking to myself "wow this place really knows the true meaning of fall".

Gatlinburg, Tennessee really captured a picture in my mind that I will never lose and always refer back to for the meaning of fall.
