Journal 3~Amanda Glacken

In my senior year of high school my softball team made it to the State Finals. The final game was played about four hours away. Stepping off the bus for that game was one of the most exciting times in my life. People were standing all around, some were booing us, others were cheering us on. Parents, students, and college scouts were all around. The field was the nicest field I had ever seen. The dirt was fresh, the lines were freshly chalked, and the fence looked a mile away.

All I could hear were people screaming and yelling. The day was about 85 degrees; perfect softball weather. The sun was shining and birds were chirping. As I ran onto the field to warm up, I could smell the burnt orange dirt, and the sweat of all the players around me. As my coach hit a routine ground ball to me, I remember thinking this is the best day of my life. When the umpire finally yelled, "play ball" I blocked out everything else in the world.
