I would have to disagree with the statement that: Teachers have the primary responsibility for installing values in children. I strongly disagree with that because children are first taught by their parents and others around them. Values are something that should be instilled in a child at home before they are sent to school or out in the world. It's not the teachers or socities responsibility to teach other peoples children how to behave. We are taught about values at any early age, only your family can and should install their beliefs and values. Parent are what mold children into the adults that they grow up to be.

Spring is finally here. The longer hours of sunlight, the sun, the warmer temperature, and flowers starting to bloom. Spring is my favorite time of the year. After spending months stuck inside, feeling dreary because of the grey sky, and the annoying snow spring is very welcoming.
Being able to take walks outside, grilling out, taking my nephews and nieces to the park, and feeling like you have more time in the day is great. I love when its warm enough for either a light jacket or no jacket.

Tara Lewis was a junior at Lakewood High School. She was a quiet student who didn't like to stand out and make a scene. She had a few friends but was not involved in any sports or clubs. She blended in, in all her classes and liked it like that. Tara had an amazing gift that only she knew. She was a gifted singer/songwriter. While her parents would be at work Tara would just sing her heart out. She sometimes sung songs already written or sometimes sang her own songs. Tara never planned on pursuing music or even sharing it with anyone. She knew people would discourage her from following such a shaky career path plus she wasnt the type of person to get up infront of people and perform. She was ok with keeping it to herself.
One afternoon while Tara thought she was home alone sang one of her own songs. She forgot that she invited her friend Ashley over. Ashley has been over so many times she doesnt knock anymore she just walks on in. While Tara was singing her heart out, Ashley stood in amazement in the doorway. Tara turns turned around and saw Ashley there.
"Oh I was jus playing around, I was bored." Tara tried covering it up.
" I've never heard you sing before....Your really good. What song was that?" Ashley asked
"Its just something I wrote when I was bored in biology class. It's nothing really" Tara responded
" No its really good. You know, you should enter the talent competition they have next week. They are still accepting people. You have a good shot of winning." Asley said with a huge smile on her face
" No way! I will not subject myself to humiliation infront of the whole school." Tara said
" What? You're really good. Everyone will love it. Please do it. You won't regret it." Ashley begged
"Ok I will think about it at least. Now lets do some studying." Tara said. SHe knew she wouldn't do it but wanted Ashley to quit talking about it.

Secondary/Reginald Bines/Journal 9
Teachers need to just teach, don't worry about instilling values into the kids. The teacher primary duties are to make sure the kids come out of the classroom educated. The primary job of instilling values into the kids are the parents main responsibltly. The teacher should be the secondary source of instilling values into the kids. When the parents have done their job, the student should be on their best behavior because they came to learn. The teacher would be able to educate the students with ease because there are no promblems in the class room. The parents providing the primary job of instilling values into the kids and the teachers backing the parents with secondary value teaching, the students would become an educated and a froce in the world.
Journal Nine Sallie Mock Gas Prices
You will not run into many people who feel that gas prices are reasonable. This feeling was obviously very strong during most of George W. Bush's ( an oilman) Administration. The reality is that gas prices are manipulated like any other commodity that is in high demand. The perception of its value can be more important than its actual value. Americans know they are being gouged. Those who set the prices are not know for being completely honest with the consumers when they (the gas providers)try to justify an uptick in prices.
In an analysis article entitled "Wall Streeters Say Speculators Double Gas Prices," published in the 2 July 2008 Wall Street Journal, Jerry Mazza reports,
In a rare moment of candor, appearing before the House Energy and Commerce Committee, first Michael Masters of Masters Capital Management told members that the price of oil would quickly drop closer to its marginal of around $65 to $75 a barrel, like half the cureent $135-40. Ironically, this seems to jibe with my article, I ranian President Ahmadinejad calls oil price hikes 'manipulated,' in which he said, " speculation is the reason behind the increasingly high prices of crude, not a lack of supply."
This is probably an historic event, having Wall Streeters and the Iranian president agree. Additionally, "Fadel Gheit of Oppenheimer & Co., Edward Krapels of Energy Security Analysis and Roger Diwan of PFS Energy Consultants agree with Masters' assessment at a hearing on proposed legislation to limit speculation in futures markets."
Fadel Gheit adds "Record oil prices are inflated by speculation and not justified by market fundamentals. Based on supply and demand fundamentals, crude-oil prices should not be above $60 a barrel."
It is not just a perception, it is a fact. Gas prices are not reasonable and it is way past time the United States gets serious about using other fuel sources. This 19th century fuel source is damaging our 21st Century way of life.

I believe children spend too much time watching television. Most kids watch television long before they enter school. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFf) two-thirds of infants and toddlers watch tv an average of 2 hours a day, kids under age 6 watch an average of about 2 hours of tv a day, mostly TV and videos or DVDs, kids and teens 8 to 18 years spend nearly 4 hours a day in front of a TV screen and almost 2 additional hours on the computer (outside of schoolwork) and playing video games. The study also stated that children under 2 years of age not watch any TV and that those older than 2 watch no more than 1 to 2 hours a day of quality programming. The first 2 years of life are considered a critical time for brain development. TV and other electronic media can get in the way of exploring, playing, and interacting with parents and others that encourages learning and healthy physical and social development. Children who consistently spend more than 4 hours per day watching TV are more likely to be overweight. Kids who watch alot of violent acts are more likely to show aggressive behavior and fear that the world is scary and that something bad will happen to them. TV characters often portray risky behaviors, like as smoking and drinking, and also reinforce gender-role and racial stereotypes. Though some tv can be good I am not a fan of using tv as a babysitter.

Warm shades of oranges and red streaming across the sky
I can feel a cool breeze as it brushes across my face
Looking deep into the sky, I can see the sun peeking through the clouds at me
Imagine floating on the clouds, seeing everything that lies below you
Footprints in the sky
Reflections of the sun’s rays dancing on the ocean’s surface
Brushing against the sand, the waves slowly touch my feet
Giving me a warm feeling inside,
The sun finally rises.

I hate to say goodbye
And I promised not to cry
But you're going away to college
Try to get lots and lots of knowledge
And hopefully the tears will dry

Jackie Washington is a single parent. She has a thirteen year old daughter named Johanna. Times have been really hard for her and Johanna lately. She was recently laid off from her job of twenty years and she has not received child support in over three years. Her girlfriend Sasha talked her into relocating to Baltimore Maryland. At first Jackie was hesitant on relocating. She had lived in Cincinnati all her life and really had not been outside of the city for more than a week. But she thought, what do I have to lose, It cant be any worse than it is now. While unpacking, Jackie thought about all of the things that she would have to do to prepare for her new life. She needed to go to her interview on Thursday, she still had to get Sasha back and forth to school everyday because she was not comfortable allowing her to ride the bus yet. She needed to go to the grocery store. She wanted to make sure that she registered to vote and she also wanted to get a driver's license for the state of Maryland. She wondered if moving in the beginning of fall was such a good ideal but then she wanted to make sure that Johanna was settled in school and did not want her to fall behind. Jackie was very grateful to Sasha for setting up the interview but she was still nervous.
Friday was finally here. Jackie was excited about starting her new job on Monday. Even with all of her years of experience with the State of Ohio, she knew that the State of Maryland would be totally different, but she was up for the challenge. Jackie had just gotten off of the phone with Sasha when she heard Johanna come through the door.
"Hey Mom, how was your day today?"
" Baby today was a good day. I got a phone call today about the job and they want me to start on Monday."
"That's great mommy. Now we can go shopping."
"Hold up sister, not so fast. With the exception of groceries, we won't be shopping anytime soon unless we miraculously receive a check from your dad."
"Well I guess that rules that one out," Johanna said while rolling her eyes. They both started laughing.
"I talked to Sasha today and she wants us to go to church with her on Sunday. Is that cool with you?" Jackie was asking to be polite because she already knew that Johanna didn't have a choice...she was going to go.
"Sure mom, not that I have a choice." said Johanna.
When Jackie woke up Sunday morning she thought to herself, this weekend is going by so fast. She was really tired from the previous week with all of the unpacking and getting settled in but she wanted to make sure that she got up for church. She was going to go and give thanks for all of the positive things going on in her life and the negative things as well. Those are her learning tools. If she did not have to experience some hardships, she may be more likely to take the good things for granted. Jackie went into Johanna's room to wake her up and decided to make breakfast for them while Johanna was in the bathroom. They can both get a little antsy when they are hungry.
When Jackie pulled up to New Hope Church of Christ, her mouth dropped opened. She was not use to a church so large and there were people everywhere. She thought to herself, how in the
world am I going to find Sasha in there?

First I shut out all the people and animals from my room. Clean off my chair and select what music I want to play to warm up. Set up my stand at eye kevek and put my music on it. I open my violin case and take out my bow. I twist the adjusting screw to the right to tighten the hairs of my bow. When it is at the right tighness the distance between the hair and the stick will be about the thickness of a pencil. Next I hold dthe rosin up by my shoulder and push and pull the bow across it in a sawing motion. This is done about 30 to 50 times to put a even layer of the fine powder on the hairs. Next I tune the strings on my violin either by ear or to a piano. Now I am set up and ready to play.
First find the smallest most crowded place you can, this is ideal for practicing. Plop down anywhere thats comfy, if you can't see your music just wing it. Open up your case and take out your bow. Tighten the spinny thing at the bottom til a couple strands of hair break, that should be tight enough. Don't worry about tuning the violin, it's just practice doesn't matter. At this point I'm usually too lazy to rosin my bow but it's ok because the horrible screeching sound will drown out the out of tune music!

Over/Reginald Bines/Journal 8
There was a bright moon in the sky that night. Mark arose from his bed to see what the noise was outside his window. Out of the darkness a creature that look like a man but was as alien from outer space. Mark ran to his closet and got his 357 magum to blast the alien away, but the alien started to talk in a strange language. The alien said "Eiow, diow ,biow and Tiow." Mark said" What are you talking about." When the alien heard Mark talk he understood he had to talk like Mark. So the alien said "I am from the planet Zorn and I come to help your planet that we had been watching for at least a century." Mark said " I am not no leader here, but a common man and if you want to be recognized, you must come up with something great." The alien pull something out of a bag that look like a book bag. What he pull out was a device that look like a metal cube. The alien said"It is a power generator that would replace your coal burning power plants and other power grids and there wouldn't be no emissions." Mark called the news media and no one was listing to him, but one news channel. Mark and the alien talk to this news channel and demonstrated this power plant and astonish the world. The President sent for them. The alien gave them cures and things to grow massive amount of foods. The alien started having ships come to earth and started taking people to Zorn. The people that went to Zorn never came back, but the people still on earth began to hear great stories. The stories really were not true. Mark found out they were being taken as slaves and Mark had the President declare war on the aliens and that was mankind last war. The Planet Earth with mankind no longer exists.

Was A Poem
You allowed me to love
Unconditionally
Naively
Freely
Indecisively
Willingly
You had me wide open
Like Denny’s after the club
A door unclosed
Pores after a shower
You got me missing you
The way lovers do
The way we both used to
Used to…
Used to love me
Hold me
Kiss me
Comfort me
Confide in me
You were my everything
My Black King
The one who told me they’d never leave
The one who was always present in my dreams
Yes you were…
Were being the root of it all
As in no longer
You are that one thing in which I still hunger
You allowed me to love
Unconditionally
Naively
Freely
Indecisively
Willingly
You had me wide open
Like Denny’s after the club
A door unclosed
Pores after a shower
You got me missing you

Jimmy Maloney caused a great scandal.
When on a wall he did vandal.
"Yo mommas a slut."
And other such smut.
His only choice was to skedaddle.
