I actually have two things that are special to me; there names are Nevaeh and Nyeemah. These are my two daughters.
Nevaeh is 4 going on 24. She is very advanced for her age. She just turned 4 last month, and already knows how to count to ten, and can name just about every color. Nevaeh is very talkative and sometimes I cant keep her quiet. Even on her bad days, she always has something funny to say. Every time she ask me for something, before I can answer she says, "Thank you, I love you." I sometimes find my self asking "where did I get her from?"
Now Nyeemah, on the other hand, is my little "firecracker." She has the attitude of a bull. She is already rolling her eyes and telling you "NO" to everything. I am just waiting on the day when I pick her up from daycare and they ask her not to return.
Even though they are like night and day, I hold my girls very close to my heart. I would not trade them for anything in the world.

Journal 2 Kelly Donnelly
My photo album is one of the my most favorite things. It's orange with a pink outline. In the middle of the album is knitted in diamonds with little (fake) crystals in them. It's very girlish but cute. It's not small but it's not big and bulky. I can easily hold it or pass it around and it doesn't take up much space. It holds a lot of pictures and I still have plenty of space. I had it laying on my dresser next to my body spray so now the album smells like the fragrance section of Victoria Secret. I haven't had the chance to take a bite out of it but I imagine it tastes like cloth and would be hard to chew. When I page through the album the plastic covering the pictures makes a crunch sound. It's annoying but they are keeping my pictures safe.
My album makes me feel loved. I have such great family and friends and the pictures show how close we are. The front pages of the album make me laugh. It's funny seeing how me and my sisters looked way back then. Giving funny faces and being silly. In the later pages I see my Nephews and niece doing the same things we did during picture time. It's really special because all the pictures hold special memories. I spent a lot of time on the album and I am proud of it. If for some reason something happened to it I would be upset, but I will always have the memories in my head so it wouldn't be a total loss.

Journal #2 Sallie Mock (Night class)Favorite Thing
Whether someone is materialistic or not, you cannnot help but get attached to some of your "things" as you go through life. Sometimes the individual thing changes. One object that comes to mind that does hold special meaning to me is a costume-type necklace I got from my maternal grandmother. It does not have any valuable jewels or made of gold or silver. It is almost a choker sized necklace. It has off white beads and a a bamboo- like pieces connected by gold links. This description doesn't entirely do it justice. It is a pretty piece of jewelry and can be adapted to just about anything I wear. The necklace looks better with more "dressy" outfits than casual wear, but it still looks great no matter what.
The real value to me is that it was my grandmother's and it dates back into the 1920s, when she was young. It has the elegant look of a lot of the dresses that were in style from that time. Silly or not, it always reminds me of my grandmother, whom we called "Momason," to differentiate her from my paternal grandmother. Momason was a cool grandma. She was almost always upbeat, happy to see you, and had a variety of interests. So it's just a nice remembrance of her.
I don't wear it often, eventhough it is a fairly sturdy necklace.
Obviously or perhaps not, I cannot describe it by taste or sound. Just its appearance, feel, and meaning explain it.

My ipod is something that is very special to me.It gets me through some pretty boring days at work and it helps motivate me when I'm cleaning.
My ipod is purple. It has a small screen to view any videos or movies that I put on it. The screen also allows me to view any artwork that is related to a song that is playing. It has a white circle in the middle. It is like a smooth flat wheel, if there is such a thing. It allows me to forward to the next song, rewind to the previous song or start my song over that I am listening to. It also allows me to look at my menu where I have my Play list, Artist, Songs, Pictures Videos and Movies. The top of my ipod is also white and it has a little metal button that is used in case I have to reboot it. The bottom of my ipod, which is also white, has a place to insert my headphones and a place to insert the cable to charge it when connected to the computer. The texture of the ipod is smooth. It is odorless but has plenty of flavor downloaded to it. It helps me when I'm bored and need some motivation. My music, downloaded to my ipod, includes Gospel, Hip Hop, R&B and Old School. When I'm doing something and I need some motivation, I listen to Gospel. When I've achieved something good at work it's Hip Hop or Rock and when I'm just chillin and relaxed, it's R&B or Old School. It makes me feel good and it helps me to relax and when I need some motivation....well it helps with that too.
My ipod is like my best friend. It says what I want to hear, it motivates me when I need to be motivated, it relaxes and encourages me when I need to be relaxed and encouraged. It can sometimes be a little expensive but at the end of the day....it's all worth it.

If I had to choose one thing that means the most to me it would have to be my garnet cross pendant. I was passed down to me from my great grandmother who I never met. On my sixteenth birthday my grandmother presented me with the cross and said it had been our family for many, many years.
The cross is encased in gold with six stones forming the cross. I hangs on a very thin chain which is why I don’t wear it. The stones are the most vivid garnet color I have ever seen. They are a deep-red gemstone that you often find in antique jewelry. The gemstone Garnet is the official birthstone for January They garnet may also be given on the second or sixth wedding anniversary.
I just found out from my mother that garnets come in a variety of colors. Garnets come in every color except blue and most varieties are named for their color. Rhodolite is a purplish red, hessonite is the name for an orange, cinnamon, or pink variety. Tsavorite is the name given to dark green
Garnets don’t have a smell, taste or sound. They are smooth to the touch.
Garnet's powers include healing, strength, and protection and it is often worn to relieve inflammations of the skin. It is also believed to regulate the heart and blood flow and aid in curing depression.

Kelly Donnelly
Hello everyone. My name is Kelly Donnelly. I started at ACR now Miami Jacobs just last November. I am a student in the Paralegal program. So far I am enjoying my experience. At first I was nervous and scared but after a few classes that all went away.
I don't hate English. If it's something I like reading or writing I find it enjoyable and fun. On the other hand during my time in high school and at UC I had to read and write papers on stuff I was bored with and it made it hard. One year in English we had to read the book The Firm by John Grisham. It was a fascinating book and we had to write essays a couple of times. I enjoyed it and found no problem. That class turned me into a John Grisham fan. I wasn't one to read a book for fun but I made an exception to John Grisham.
One of my weaknesses when I write is run on sentences and grammar. I tend to go on and on without stopping to make another sentence. It's easy to do when you’re wrapped up in the subject. Also I am not great with where to and not to put a comma or other syllables. I look forward during the course to learning that and freshening up on my other skills. It's been a while since I had to write a paper so I feel like I am learning brand new information.

Hi my name is Pauline Jones and I am a mother of 2 girls. I have been attending the Academy now for about a year and a half as a paralegal student. I am currently a Proposal Coordnitor for Cornerstone Insurance Agency. I like to read romance novels and spend time with my family. I don't think I do too bad at my writing skills but I know there is room for improvments. I really perfer to read than to write, but I write when I yhave too. I tend to think I have a strong imagination so that helps with my writing skills. I can improve in all areas of writing because there is always room to grow. By the end of the quarter, I hope to learn a wide range of writing styles. I think my most positive writing experiences happened when I was elementary school becaus I had the craziest stories.

Hello class, I'm excited to meet you all and get to know you all a bit better. I think this is going to be a fun, interesting class -- or at least I hope so. I have three cats who are like my children (I'm going to be one of those old cat ladies one day). I am recently engaged to a wonderful man, but we aren't planning on getting married any time soon.
I, of course, love writing. I'm working on my first novel and hope to one day see it published. My strengths as a writer lie in my vivid descriptions and dialogue. My grammar is also a major strength for me, as I have studied it for the greater portion of my life. My best writing experience was in high school. I had a wonderful instructor who allowed us to do a lot of creative works, and I ended up completing a small book of poetry in the class. It made me really appreciate how interesting and creative writing could be. I don't think that I have a worst writing experience.
I'm looking forward to reading all your entries :)

Hey everyone my name is Charles I'm in the court reporting program. I don't really have a lot of free time for hobbies because of work. I am a consulting manager for a Penn Station franchise. I spend the little free time that I have playing music, doing and teaching martial arts, and just hanging around.
I've never thought of myself as an amazing writer but it is something that I enjoy depending on the subject. The vast majority of my writing has been songs, although I haven't done that in a long time. My weakness in writing is just doing it. I have trouble thinking about what it is that I want to write, and just sitting down to do it. My strengths in writing would be, well I'm not really sure what my strengths would be. I would like to gain from this class new ways to start writing, or ways to brainstorm topics.
My most positive writing experience has been my music. As I said earlier I love music, both playing instruments and writing songs. My worst writing experience I would say was my entire 9th grade English class. I just had a chronic case of writers block and probably ended up doing about ten drafts for each assignment he gave.

I am a writer with a very great imagination and I like to do research on different subject.
I like writing to relieved things on my mind and there are things in this world that need to be talked about such as hungrier and just plain greed like the home foreclose. The economy that went down the tubes and me not making any money now. What I dislike about writing is you have to have the right grammar and spell the the wordds right. My strength in writing is the imagination that I can use and research that I can use. My weakness is going to be spelling and the right grammar and trying to type my journal in this blogg, stopping from using my imagination because I have to concentrated on this keyboard. The area I need most help will be spelling and grammar. My writing goal will be to write 8 pages of the most fascinated essays any one can dream of seeing. My most positive writing experience is when I wrote a comedy sketch and it was great experience and the sketch was funny and good. The most worst writing experience was when I was not ready for a essay part of my 11th grade English test.

Hello all, my name is Jacqueline A. Lewis. I prefer to be called Jackie. I am an adult learner and mother of one. I have three wonderful grandchildren and they a all characters. I guess that is the pot calling the kettle black because I am a character too.
I love to write and I have submitted a few things to a few magazines, not published yet. I usally write under the name A.J. Lewis. I think I am a pretty good writer, but sometimes am writing and the I get caught up in the writing and forget the grammar rules. I usally have my good friend Karen edit my stuff. She is an English major.
As I said before I love to write. It is my creative outlet. I usually write short stories about things that have happened to me or others. I guess my weakness would be the grammer aspect of writing.
The area I would like help with would be grammar.
My writing goals for the quarter would be to of course finish all of the assignments and further improve my grammar handicap.
My most positive writing experience would be my starting my book. My worst writing experience would be a a paper I had to write about Jeffrey Dahmer. It was horrible and I had a hard time doing the assignment.

Hello my name is Crystal. I am currently seeking an associate degree in the Paralegal program at Miami Jacobs Career College. I am looking to use my degree to advance within the company that I am with.
I do not like to write much. I guess it is also not the way that I like to learn. I prefer group discussion and I am more of an auditory learner.
I think my weakness in writing is, not always knowing how to word things. I sometimes struggle on where to begin and how to word it.
I would imagine my strengths would be that I am a half way decent speller and once I get started I do pretty well.
I would like help in learning how to put my thoughts on paper. I know what I would like to say if I were actually speaking to someone but I don't always know how to word it when it's time to put it in writing.

Me llamo es Sallie. I'm a student in the Court Reporting program. This is my second quarter. As a writer, I would say I'm a rusty hack. I have a writing certificate in Journalism from the University of Cincinnati. At the time, UC did not offer a Journalism degree, so I majored in Communications with an emphasis on Journalism. I would have to say I am rusty because I only write when I have to. I do not keep a journal or diary on my own, nor do I do MySpace, Facebook, or whatever is the flavor of the month on the Interwebs.
What I don't like about writing is that it is not like math where you can turn in an assignment and get a 100% . There is no perfect in writing. It seems there is always something not quite right that you have to correct or do over so it can be frustrating at times. I had a very bad experience in college with a professor who pretty much turned me off to writing as a profession. However, I do and did enjoy copy editing. I did copy editing as an internship. There were no fulltime jobs though at the time, so that occupation sort of fell through the cracks.
My copy editing skills have since kind of dissipated and I would like to regain some of that skill. Apparently, I do okay in terms of narrative writing...we'll see. As for weaknesses, I was once threatened by a professor that he would shoot me if I wrote one more comma splice. Believe it not, I appreciated it. He was a very good teacher. That will be an area that still needs to be watched. Habits of a lifetime, you know.
A goal for this course would be to strengthen my writing skills in general. I do not have a real specific goal.
